Where Do You Seek Refuge?
(Isaiah 14:28-16:14)

In this series of oracles directed against Philistia and Moab, Isaiah warns Judah not to look for refuge in nations who themselves need refuge. Philistia mistakes the changing of circumstances for security. Moab is brought low, yet remains too proud to receive the refuge that the LORD provides. In the midst of this, Isaiah points us to where true refuge is found: a King whose throne is established in steadfast love.

Glory That Will Not Last

Isaiah 13-23 contains a series of oracles concerning the nations and the world around Judah. The first begins with Babylon, a kingdom that would become feared for its power and admired for its glory. Yet, Isaiah shows us the downfall of human pride through Babylon's fall, as well as God's compassion for His people and the reality of His unfailing purpose.
