Lord, Teach Us to Pray
(Luke 11:1-13)
by Tan Huai Tze
Jesus teaches us to pray by giving us a pattern to follow, encouraging us to come boldly before our Heavenly Father, and to rest in His promise to us. We know He is kinder, more generous and loving that we are because He has given us His Son, so that His Spirit may dwell with us.

Jesus the Necessary One
(Luke 10:38-42)
by Joel Sim
In a world filled with noise, pressure, and endless demands, it is easy to be distracted by many things. In Luke 10:38–42, Jesus redirects our attention to what truly matters. Through His interaction with Martha and Mary, we are reminded that while service is good, it must flow from something deeper—communion with Christ. This is what it means to choose the “one thing necessary,” and to find rest not in what we do for Jesus, but in being with Him.

The Neighbour We Cannot Be
(Luke 10:25–37)
by Chua Si Yang
This well-known passage tells the Parable of the Good Samaritan, where a question about eternal life exposes our tendency to justify ourselves and our failure to truly love our neighbour. Jesus reveals a standard of love beyond what we can achieve, pointing us to our need for a Saviour. The story ultimately directs us to Christ, who alone fulfils this perfect love, and calls us—having received His mercy—to extend that same costly, self-giving compassion to others.

Messengers of the King
(Luke 10:1-24)
by Joel Sim
In this story, Jesus appoints and sends out seventy-two other disciples to proclaim the kingdom of God and heal people. What we find is a widening of the circle of ministry: it is no longer limited to the twelve apostles, but it extends now to other disciples of Jesus Christ. This shows us that a disciple of King Jesus is a messenger of this same king. We go with the authority of King Jesus, wherever He has placed us in. At the same time, what drives this mission ultimately is the joy of having our names written in heaven by the grace of God. When this becomes the ground of our joy, everything in our lives falls into its proper place.

The Priority of Following Jesus
(Luke 9:57–62)
by Tan Huai Tze
Jesus meets three people on the road—two volunteer to follow Him, and one is called by Him. In each case, Jesus exposes a hesitation of the heart and shows that following Him must take priority over comfort, custom, and compromise. Yet the One who calls us to follow Him is the One who gave Himself up for us.

Following the Rejected Saviour
(Luke 9:51–56)
by Tan Huai Tze
Jesus sets His face toward Jerusalem and the cross. Rejected by those He came to save, He refuses immediate judgment and continues His mission of grace. To follow Jesus is to follow the rejected Saviour on the road to the Cross.
